Parking Lot Light Standard Site
This is a Nextel site atop a parking lot light standard located on USN property in San Diego, California.



Is that an AIRCRAFT warning light on the tree?



Cell flag poles This is a Sprint site in northern San Diego County. The BTS equipment is located to the right of the flagpoles.





False 3rd story on office building
Antenna room constructted on top of an existing office building. Windows are not real, but instead painted upon translucent plastic materia. Roof room accessible from access door on right end.




Cell Rock
Here is a cellular rock housing an antenna. The antenna serves the 118 Freeway in the Santa Susana Pass between the Simi Valley and the San Fernando Valley.



Peeking Inside a Wireless Rock
This is what an antenna looks like mounted inside a cellular rock. The two coaxial cables indicate that the antenna is actually two antennas inside one radome: one for transmit, and one for receive. Another panel antenna can easily be added on the mounting pole in the foreground.



Underground BTS Equipment Vault
You're looking at a close-up view of one way that Sprint places its equipment underground. The vents provide air flow. The green pedestal is for the power meter. The PVC tubing is for site drainage. This site is in the Newbury Park portion of Thousand Oaks, California.



Columns of Signal
The columns at the top are built with RF transparent materials. The antennas are located inside the columns of this church. Look carefully and you'll see the seam of the RF transparent panels.



A Powerful Bison
Verizon's cellular bison, located in Carr, Colorado, serves I25. This closeup shot shows how the antenna panels are affixed to the metal body of the bison.




What an Awful 'Camouflage' Design
Sprint's silly camo box above non-camo legs design in Burbank, California. Not even painted with some classic line like, "Eat At Joes" or "Repent! The End (of Bad Camo Designs) is at Hand!"



Using Microwaves to Cook the Food?
This site's antennas are painted to match the McDonalds barrel sign at the Barstow Station, Barstow California.

Disguised as part of the brickwork
This antenna array is cleverly painted to match the color and texture of the building. Downtown LA intersection, yet barely noticeable.
[Ummmmm, excuse me? I would notice it. Then I would bust it.]

Here's a clever way of hidding a cell site inside a City sign.

You mean welcome to hell? Not so clever, now that we all know what to look for.

Faux penthouse extension
This Nextel site has its antennas located inside the faux penthouse atop the building. Notice the uneven coverage of Spanish tiles on the sides.

"Are ya sure you want the penthouse? That'll be $1,000 a night."
"Do I get room service with that?"
"No, that will be extra."
"We gotta pay for this somehow."
"Arrrrrghhhhh!"
"Mr. Guest, you do get FREE phone service."
"Ah gee, thanks."

Poor Camo Design
A camo site should effectively hide the antennas from public view. This site, in West Los Angeles, fails to do so, and illustrates the point. Camo is NOT just putting up some antenna blinds and painting to match.

Yep, I agree. They did a sucky job at that one, did they?


Spreading THE WORD...
Very interesting! This church has a cell site on the tri-leg cross support, AND an AT&T Wireless site inside the large cross attached to the chapel. Site engineering and fabrication of the large camo cross by Peabody Engineering.

When it's a cell site with a windsock! North Seattle Community College. Quite a nice design!

Major Co-lo Site - San Clemente, California
Co-location camo site (Sprint, Verizon, Nextel, Cingular) at St. Andrews by the Sea United Methodist Church, San Clemente.

This camo sector shines to the east. You can see one of the antennas for this sector located behind RF transparent panels just below the roof. The arrows indicate the direction of installation of one of the antennas. The color tape on the coaxial cable is a typical method of identifying the sector of the antenna, and whether its a transmit, receive, or duplex model.

"More giving, errr.. GIFTING to churches."

No Dead Zones Around This Site
Cingular's very slick stand-alone site is located on the grounds of a cemetery.

"Don't ya mean no ALIVE ZONES? Gotta keep those spirits trapped in this dimension with your DOR, do ya? Cementary busting time, is it?"

Hint: It's Not Canneroni
These are three section covers of a faux flagpole barely in the City of Los Angeles, California. They're off while Verizon's works on its antennas (see the photos in this gallery).
